The Taddict likes to report on streetwear from time to time and thought he was up on the latest gear. I thought I had located the coolest streetwear blogs and thought watching KarmaLoop Daily TV help me put on. Then I came across a post by Kineda called 50 Streetwear Blogs You Should Be Reading

and realized I didn’t have a clue.  It felt like I’d struck gold when I found out there are so many other streetwear blogs that I could be following.  Don’t be ignorant like the Taddict and think that you have the game figured out….there’s always other hustlers out there that you don’t know about.  :)

Tee Industry Interview – Blake at You Design It (0)

We recently reached out to Blake from You Design It through this blog to see if he was a fan. He responded to our call and agreed to an interview. We thought this would be beneficial because we rarely hear from the printers (sometimes referred to as the “dark side” of the industry).  :) To show our appreciation we’d like to encourage you to design t-shirts

at You Design It for your next printing project. He even said that if you don’t use him for printing, he is readily available to help with any questions. Here goes:

How did you first get involved with t-shirt printing?

I really got into it after college because it was such an easy market where I could relate to the audience I was selling to. It just seemed like a natural fit for me because I liked tees and was interested in the production side as opposed to the retail side.

What are the biggest changes you have seen in the t-shirt industry?

I have seen improvements everywhere. As the taste of the consumers grow, we have to keep up more and more with the retail industry. One good example is the new trend for oversized prints styled similar to the Affliction brand. We’re actually in the process of buying the equipment to offer oversized t-shirt printing.

What is your favorite aspect of t-shirt printing?  What is one thing you would change if you could?

My favorite aspect is having a customer go out of their way to call and say that the experience from purchase to receipt was easy….that everything came out to their expectations.

On the flip side, the thing I would change would be the general knowledge and perceptions of the t-shirt printing process. I think awareness would bring out a new appreciation.

How much do you feel your general interest in design has been impacted by screen printing and visa versa?

I had to learn how to design out of a necessity to provide proofs to customers and improve user submitted artwork. Once I felt comfortable/familiar in the design programs, I was able to appreciate the work and creativity that go into good designs.

Do you see yourself still in the screen printing industry in ten years?  In what ways do you hope your role or involvement is different and how is that shaping what you’re doing right now?

I want to be involved in some way or another. We have so much development going on right now because we are taking advantage of the down economy. I am hoping to change the interaction between the clothing line entrepreneurs and the printers. Maybe even lose the “garage hippie stereotype” of screen printers. :)

One last question….we found you through your guest blogging appearances across many of the blogs we have in our feed reader…do you have it in you for some guest spots with the Taddict?

Of course, no problem at all. Thanks for having me!

T-Shirt Shops Across the Pond(s) (0)

You can probably guess as much that we get e-mails every day about a new t-shirt design, t-shirt line, or t-shirt shop.  We also get e-mails from vendors, suppliers, and even companies that have no idea what we do.  Since none of our posts are financially motivated, we like to reward those e-mails that are exclusive, targeted, and relevant.  We look for pitches that have cool content, and most importantly…if we can tell that you are hustling.  The t-shirt game is not one for the timid.

Under the guidelines, we have found two sites that we’d like to reward.  It just so happens that both of them are on separate continents other than the United States.  The first is Electric Press

out of the UK, and I was glad to see that they were carrying some American indie brands like Linty Fresh and Two in the Shirt .  The second was Hung by Thread in Australia and I could see that they have a sense of humor.  Their e-mail addressed me by name and they made a few jokes about the current economy and the currency markets.

Their websites were clean and full of information for your shopping pleasure.  The Taddict approves.

Hide Your Arms Is Hustling Hardcore (0)

As I prepared my very first post of the day (the day is almost over), I was surfing the t-shirt blog space to see what was going on.  I came across one of our regular faves, Hide Your Arms

, and was blown away by the work Andy had put in today.  That dude posted eight solid t-shirt related posts in one day.  That is some kind of grind.  Karl Long , the original t-shirt gangsta, might have found his heir to the t-shirt blogging throne.

There are serious props due to Andy and I’ll bet he is getting the growth he is looking for.  Now please slow down because you’re setting the bar too high for the rest of us.  ;)

TeeReader – A Source for T-Shirt Blogs (0)

I am a big fan of two tools that we use daily to increase our growth and readership at T Addict. One is our analytics package that allows us to see where our traffic comes from so we can make sure we are catering to the right crowd. The other trusted tool we use daily is our feedreader for new products, announcements, and just to feed the t-shirt addiction we have. The reason that I mention these two key components for our growth is because we notice a little traffic was being thrown our way from TeeReader.com

.

We checked it out and were pleased to see that it is a public feedreader for t-shirt blogs

and t-shirt news . Right now it looks extremely simple and possibly unfinished, but I am sure they are going to move to an advertising model at some point. Either way, it is a great list of t-shirt blogs and we are glad to be featured on the site.
