We Got Screenshot Love from GoMediaZine (0)

I just came across a really cool article by our friend Blake at You Design It

about how a t-shirt designer can develop a strong following . Imagine how happy I was when I saw that he included a screenshot featuring the T Addict under the section called “Show Your Personality.” I am pretty sure the reference was to Rusty Eight showing his personality in an interview with us but we’ll take what we can get!

The article is excellent and highlights such suggestions as having your own website, building a strong portfolio, and being involved in the t-shirt community. Check out the entire article here:

Great article Blake, and thanks for showing some love to the T Addict.

The Storenvy Interview and More (0)

Published on November 25th, 2009. By

, under T-Shirt News .

Many of you fellow T Addicts have heard of Jon Kruse before. He is a one-man t-shirt wrecking crew. He has started two successful t-shirt lines, Mediocore

and Shred , and runs the popular t-shirt blog How to Start A Clothing Company . If none of those sound familiar to you then you have surely run into him at Emptees where he is one of the most prolific members.

He recently did an interview with Storenvy

on HTSACC because he has been so pleased with their printing after making the switch to them. The interview covers the new Storenvy features as they release the latest version of their completely free store system. The new system looks to be a disruptor of sorts with all of the social features that will help the storekeepers create more sales and make more money.

Head over to How To Start A Clothing Company

to get all of the details:

Jeffrey Kalmikoff Is Nude Again (0)

Published on September 16th, 2009. By

Does the T Addict have some Threadless

fans as readers? I think I just might. If you are a Threadless lover, keep reading. If not, keep reading. The Chief Creative Officer for Threadless as of the last 7 years, Jeffrey Kalmikoff, resigned last month . So…if he resigned last month, why am I posting about it now you ask?

Two main reasons. The first is because I just became aware of it. The second and more importantly is because he was just accepted a major position

at the all-star tech company of Digg . This is a major announcement for both Digg and the t-shirt community because it adds to our credibility and growing strength.

Is that egocentric of me to figure how his gain can be attributed to us, the t-shirt addicts? If you think so, then good for me.

Don’t Get Caught Wearing This Tee in Dubai (0)

Published on July 2nd, 2009. By

, under T-Shirt News .

Is this for real?  According to Perez Hilton

, a man in Dubai was arrested for wearing this Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, t-shirt designed by Marc Jacobs.  As you can see, the shirt is only suggestive and doesn’t actually show any nudity.

The man purchase the shirt on a recent trip he took to New York City and just got sentenced to a month in jail for wearing it.  He will also be deported back to his home country of Lebanon after his jail term.

The shirt was actually created for skin cancer awareness.  It makes you wonder if he purchased the shirt for the cause or because Posh wasn’t wearing any drawers.

Format Mag Says RIP to the Fallen (0)

Not to be a Debbie Downer on a Friday but I think this post is worth a mention.  It’s brought to us by Format Magazine

and they give a great big R.I.P. to those stores who have fell victim to the bad economy we’re experiencing.  I just want it to serve as a reminder to those out there who are fighting that you can’t give up.  It’s a survival of the fittest and being in business right now is a feat in itself.

It has been said before that in dire times like these, many new brands and designers will emerge.  It is kind of like a changing of the guard.  Those who work the hardest, fight the strongest, and adapt the best will come back better than ever.

Hopefully, we’ve hit the bottom and are on our way back. Stay strong!

Spreadshirt Raises Money in this Economy? (0)

Published on February 23rd, 2009. By

, under T-Shirt News .

This isn’t normally the cup of tea that I write about but I couldn’t pass up the info. Spreadshirt

, as I’m sure that you already know, is a custom t-shirt shop provider that competes with Zazzle and Cafepress but is originally based out of Germany. According to a TechCrunch report , they just closed a funding round of €10 million. That’s very impressive in this down economy. What isn’t impressive however, is the fact that they just had layoffs because their growth was only 40% instead of the expected 50-80%. When is 40% growth not good enough???

MyInkBlog X Blake Poutra (0)

Found another t-shirt post crossover

in the general design community. It again comes from Blake at You Design It and he informed us that he has a monthly guest gig on the growing design blog, MyInkBlog . Again, we had to remind him that we wouldn’t mind a little guest posting here as well and he agreed to bring it this week. Looking forward to that but in the mean time….

A Struggling Fashion Label in this Economy (0)

Published on February 12th, 2009. By

, under T-Shirt News .

Man, this story blew me away. It it brought to us by the Wall Street Journal about a smaller fashion label based out of Los Angeles called Five Four. They don’t produce just t-shirts so don’t hate me for posting this but A LOT can be seen and learned from this article. It is a sign of the times and one that we should all pay attention too. I want to make the link very clickable so here is the title:

Inside a Fashion Label’s Scramble to Survive

Once you get hooked on the article, you might want to check out Five Four’s follow-up blog post in response to the article, found here:

T-Shirt Hell Shutting Down (0)

Published on January 26th, 2009. By

, under T-Shirt News .

Hopefully I am the first t-shirt blogger to blog about this because I have a feeling that about 100 more will. T-Shirt Hell

has just announced that they are shutting their doors for good because they are tired of the scrutiny. I just came across the information via TechCrunch so I am not going to repost the open letter written by the site’s owner – Sunshine Megatron . It is worth a read because it is pretty funny. There is probably going to be quite a few people rejoicing over this news. What’s your take?
