T-Shirt Contest Winners at Abduzeedo (0)

A design blog that we cover often, Abduzeedo

, just announced five winners out of 70+ entries in their own t-shirt design contest. I had posted about it before because the entries I saw were going to be so difficult to print on black shirts due to the artwork’s color complexities. Apparently the winners won’t be any different because 4 out of the 5 winners will require 4-color process printing (unless they go digital or transfer).

I am looking forward to seeing these as the finished product.  I will post again when they are available. In the meantime, you can see the winners by clicking on the picture:

Press Play Fashion Forward on Homage (0)

One of the blogs I regularly visit just posted a good interview with the Homage Clothing

line founder.  It was written by Christopher Truth over at Press Play Fashion Forward .  Christopher is known for spittin’ the truth at PPFF along with Mick Boogie, Terry Urban, Mike and others.  You may recognize two of those names, Terry and Mick, from the recent Viva La Hova remix/mashup of Jay Z and Coldplay (instant classic!!!).

The interview with Homage

strikes a chord right now because it is all about the hustle.  The founder, Ryan, started the line in his basement and is now being stocked in retail boutique stores globally.  He started small and scratched his way up.  For the rest of the information, you have to go read the interview.

Dale Edwin Murray and Slurp (0)

At Taddict, we know Dale from e-mailing back and forth.  It only took a few looks at his artwork and I instantly became a fan.  He has a pretty distinct style, and it is very consistent across his themes.  Slurp

, his latest t-shirt design, is no different, but yet manages to still stay fresh.  This was also my first time to come across the Chimpogo website.  It is another t-shirt design submission/voting website based across the pond in the UK.

If you haven’t seen either, I suggest you go check it out.  And while you’re there, you might as well sign up and vote for slurp, because I can’t imagine it not winning.

Best of T-Shirt Designs (0)

Yes my friends, I have a 2-for-1 for you on this one.  Since we’re nearing the end of the year, we have reached that time for all of the “best of” lists. I would bet big money that many of my fellow t-shirt bloggers are preparing their best of t-shirt designs for the year right now.  There is nothing wrong with that because I’m really looking forward to them.  However, in the mean time, two major design blogs have beat them to the punch and they picked some good ones.

Abduzeedo

went for the bright colors in their 50 Best T-Shirt Designs of 2008 .  The artwork printed on these t-shirts is unreal.  I recognize the majority of them, but there were some gems that I’d never seen before.

Inspiredology

also went with the magic number of 50 in their 50 Terrific Tees for 2008 .  The list was dominated by Design by Humans and followed up with Johnny Cupcakes.  It is well worth the look.

A.mar.illo Attacks (0)

You know that the Taddict is a fanboy of A.mar.illo

and his unbelievable t-shirt design skills.  He did an interview with us not too long ago and we are going to continue pumping up his work out of gratitude.  Wait…that is not entirely true.  We’re going to continue pumping up his work because it is just that good.

His latest installment can be found over at A Better Tomorrow

and it is called Fruit Attacks .  Apparently, the fruits from outer space are not a big fan of the human race.  I could tell you a lot more about the shirt if I could read the language the page was written in.  Until then, we’ll just have to enjoy the pictures.

Troundup Gets a Makeover (0)

This is a subject that I just couldn’t let slide by, I had to write about it.  It makes me get a little teary eyed when I see the t-shirt blogging community helping each other out.  I may be going a little far by exaggerating about the tears, but I do think it’s a pretty cool pairing.  Troundup

felt like it was time to add a little polish to their site and they went to none other than Liz at Pop Culture Tees .  And just like she did with her own site…she did a fantastic job.

As a sidenote, I know what us t-shirt bloggers are making and its pennies per hour.  I always like to see a fellow blogger scrounging up the dough to further their passion.  If you don’t have Troundup in your RSS reader, you definitely should add them.

Models Love Cake (0)

, under T-Shirt Lines .

One of the trendiest prints you can create in street wear t-shirts is a black-and-white photograph of a female.  Just being able to do that though does not guarantee sales.  You have to come up with something cool to go with the picture.  Sugarcraft

has eloquently done just that by stating the obvious – Models Love Cake.

I’m giving them a hard time because their shirts are on fire right now.  I’m fairly certain that Model Loves Cake is a double entendre, and probably can be interpreted into about 30 different meanings.  Either way, I want the shirt.  And as an added bonus that only T-shirt connoisseurs would care about, they used 15 different screens to create a black-and-white photograph.  That is nothing short of amazing.

And you just thought slapping a black-and-white photograph of a girl on a shirt would make you rich…

Tank Theory Has Some Serious Art (0)

Published on December 12th, 2008. By

Tank Theory

is an online shop with a focus on art, and not the novelty or humorous kind. They have what they call The Artist Society with the premise of providing real artists a t-shirt canvas to go wild on. There was one design that really caught my eye because I can’t imagine how advanced the print has to be.

The name of the design is Guardo da Mignotta

and it was created by Alberto Seveso . It is a mixture of figural photography, and what appears to be vector graphics. They work seamlessly together, to complete a female’s face. What’s even more interesting is that it uses water-based inks, adding to the complexity of the print. I have got to get one of these to see it in person.

The Hundreds X Lost Boys = Major Success! (0)

I am going to let the pictures do the talking on this one. Head over to The Hundreds blog

and see the pics for their brand new release of The Hundreds/Lost Boys collabo . They sold out at every store by the end of the day. That’s crazy!!!
