Tank Theory Has Some Serious Art (1)

Tank Theory is an online shop with a focus on art, and not the novelty or humorous kind. They have what they call The Artist Society with the premise of providing real artists a t-shirt canvas to go wild on. There was one design that really caught my eye because I can’t imagine how advanced the print has to be.
The name of the design is Guardo da Mignotta and it was created by Alberto Seveso. It is a mixture of figural photography, and what appears to be vector graphics. They work seamlessly together, to complete a female’s face. What’s even more interesting is that it uses water-based inks, adding to the complexity of the print. I have got to get one of these to see it in person.

For some reason that design in particular annoyed me. Kind of like “oooh, look. we can put stuff /on/ a face. forget integrating this vector doodle, let’s just make it transparent when a feature gets in the way.” But not in a particularly appealing way, to me.
