I was raped t-shirt design (0)

I have never seen this kind of public voice t-shirt before, but apparently it is from the same people who carried the “i had an abortion” t-shirt back in 2004. Here are the reasons (according to site who is selling the design) why you should wear this “i was raped shirt”.
Because wearing it lets others know that they aren’t alone. Because wearing it invites conversation about a silenced experience that so many women and men share. Because rape is a crime that someone did to you, against your will. Because, as Maya Angelou says, “I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.” Because you shouldn’t be ashamed that you were raped; the perpetrator should be ashamed. Because being public shatters the very silence that enables rape to be so common. Because naming what has happened is the first step toward changing the reality of rape. Because legal redress is rarely served, so it’s crucial to find our own justice and acknowledgment.
To me, I would think this for most victims would be a matter of privacy and would not want to be the voice for conversation. Here is what others are saying
This lady is what is wrong with America. How about a shirt that reads “I AM PRO ABORTION AND ANTI DEATH PEALTY.” Wow, some people’s morals are completely backwards. — Posted by Aaron
This is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea. I was raped many years ago and prefer to “own the experience” by living my life as a champion, not as victim. This would place me squarely back into the victim camp. Posted by Shish
